Self - Care After Your Sound Bath

Sound baths encourage the mind and body to deeply relax, which can allow healing through release of accumulated tension. While some feel energized immediately, others may feel tired, as the body has gone through a deep, subconscious, and relaxing experience.

Participants frequently report feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated after their sound bath, but it is also common to feel temporarily disoriented, lightheaded, tired or emotionally sensitive as you process the experience.

It is advised to take it easy and avoid alcohol or intense stress immediately after your sound bath and to allow yourself time to process the experience.  I encourage my participants to ground themselves at the end of their sound bath by taking deep grounding breaths and to drink plenty of water, which also aids detoxification. It is also advisable to eat a light snack shortly afterwards. I also encourage our participants not to immediately rush off after their sound bath but to take their time before continuing with their day, especially if driving, as you may feel temporarily tired as the energy within your body resets.

To receive the most out of your sound bath experience, it is advisable for you to continue with the self-care practices listed below over the next couple of days if possible.

Self - Care Tips

  • Keep hydrated. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine, as these have a dehydrating effect. Also try to eat light meals and simple foods, to allow your body to focus on healing and not on digestion.

  • Relax and take some ‘you’ time.  If you are working, take regular breaks and be gentle on yourself.

  • Be kind to yourself and hold space for the healing coming from within.

  • Listen to yourself and your instinct. Give yourself time and space to process. Do your best to be present with whatever emotions arise. Meditation can help with this.

  • Be creative. Journaling is a great way to gain clarity and aid further release in your healing, other forms of creativity such as painting can help too.

  • Be Active. Gentle movement such as Yoga, Tai Chi or walking is a great way for you to connect with your body.

  • Connecting with nature. Spending time in your garden or a park will help ground and nurture your mind, body and soul.
